The Bretons of New York

The « covachas », marketplace from the XVth century situated in the Bretons street, « calle bretones » in Sanlùcar de Barrameda. This market functioned already at the end of the Middle Ages when there existed a « Breton ghetto» where many fabric merchants from the peninsula lived. These gothic decorations are not dissimilar to the edifices of this same period in Brittany. Reference : Erwan Chartier
