Jean-Christophe Fichou
A doctor of geography and contemporary history specialist, Jean-Christophe Fichou was a geography teacher in the preparatory classes for the Grandes Écoles at the Kérichen Lycée in Brest. He is now retired.
He has published a number of articles, including “Les Gardiens, des fonctionnaires disciplinés ?” (Lighthouse keepers: disciplined civil servants?), in Pagan no. 5 (2002); “Les syndicats ouvriers des filles de la conserve de poisson en Bretagne, 1905–1914” (Brittany’s trade unions for female workers in the fish-canning industry), in Annales de Bretagne et des Pays de l’Ouest (2010); as well as “Une épuration spécifique ; les conserveurs de sardines bretons” (Specific treatment: workers in the Breton sardine-canning industry) (2025).
He has also contributed to several collective works, and a book is currently being prepared with other authors: Études anthropologiques et historiques des techniques des pêches maritimes, de l’Époque moderne à nos jours sur le littoral armoricain (Anthropological and historical studies of maritime fishing techniques on the Armorican coast, from the Early Modern period to the present day).
